UPI Ticketing Service In kolkata Metro

UPI Ticketing Service in Metro: Now Passengers Can Buy Metro Tickets via UPI!

Starting Tuesday, May 20, passengers can now purchase metro tickets using UPI payment from Salt Lake Sector V to Phoolbagan on the Green Line 1 corridor, following its initial launch at Sealdah. This new UPI-based ticketing system is now available at all stations between Sealdah and Salt Lake Sector V on the Green Line 1 corridor. This means passengers will no longer face issues with exact fare payments for metro tickets.

The Metro Railway Authority, in collaboration with the State Bank of India and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), has introduced this Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based ticketing system. It was first launched at Sealdah station on May 7 this year, and now, the system is fully operational from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V.

How Can Passengers Use This Service? UPI Ticketing Service In kolkata Metro

1. **Visit the Ticket Counter**: Interested passengers should go to the ticket counter and mention their destination station.

2. **Scan the QR Code**: A QR code will appear on the dual display board at the counter. Passengers need to scan this code using their smartphone and make the required payment.

3. **Receive Your Ticket**: Once the payment is complete, passengers will receive a QR code-based paper ticket, which they can use to travel on the metro.

Additional Benefits

Apart from buying tickets, passengers can also recharge their smart cards using this UPI system. The Metro Authority has announced plans to extend this service to more lines soon. This includes:

- **Green Line 2**: From Esplanade to Howrah Maidan Station.

- **Blue Line**: From Dakshineswar to Kavi Subhash Station.

- **Purple Line**: From Joka to Majherhat Station.

- **Orange Line**: From Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay Station.

The initiative to expand this service to these lines is already underway.

By implementing this system, the Metro Authority aims to enhance passenger convenience and streamline the ticketing process, making travel easier and more efficient for everyone.
