For the first time, a biopic on the legendary poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is being made in Bengali cinema. Directed by Abdul Alim, this film will feature actor Kinjal Nanda in the lead role.

Kinjal Nanda shared his excitement with the media, stating that portraying Kazi Nazrul Islam is a challenging yet thrilling opportunity. He promises that the film will reveal much more about Nazrul’s life than what is commonly known. To prepare for this role, Kinjal is studying extensively about the poet.
From Childhood to Final Days
The biopic will cover Kazi Nazrul’s life from his childhood to his final days. Shooting is scheduled to begin in winter. The film will involve significant use of prosthetic makeup, and Kinjal's look is still being finalized.
Makeup and Special Characters
Makeup artist Somnath Kundu will be responsible for transforming Kinjal into Nazrul. Despite physical differences, prosthetics will help bridge the gap. The film will also feature notable actors like Kharaj Mukhopadhyay as Fazlul Haque and Kanchana Moitra as Birjasundari Devi. Additionally, several Bangladeshi actors might join the cast, including Ali Akbar Khan (played by Fazlur Rahman Babu) and Sajanikanta Das (played by Shantilal Mukherjee).
Rabindranath Tagore's Role
It's impossible to depict Nazrul’s life without including Rabindranath Tagore. The filmmakers are currently discussing who will portray Tagore, with names like Ranjit Mallick and Chiranjit Chakraborty being considered.
Kinjal Nanda previously played Binoy Bose in the biopic "8/12 Binay Badal Dinesh." He agreed to this new role after carefully reading the script and believes the project is being approached with great care and importance.
Music and Production
Joy Sarkar will handle the film's music direction, and the tentative title of the movie is "Kazi Nazrul Islam." Arghakamal Mitra is in charge of editing, and JB Production is producing the film.
