Nachiketa Chakraborty Award : The Mahanayak Samman is named after Bengal’s legendary actor Uttam Kumar and is organized by the government to honor artists who have mesmerized the public with their talent. Although this award has traditionally been given to actors, Nachiketa's contributions to music have been acknowledged this year.
Nachiketa began his musical journey in 1993 and has since created numerous timeless songs. Known for his thought-provoking lyrics and socially relevant themes, his hits like "Briddhashram," "Neelanjana," and "Jakhon Somoy" have resonated with listeners for decades. Despite the late recognition, Nachiketa expressed his gratitude, saying that his shows still draw full houses and that tickets sell out quickly, which he considers the greatest honor of all.
At the same event, actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Shubhajit Mukherjee, Rachana Banerjee, Rukmini Maitra, and Ambarish Bhattacharya also received the Mahanayak Samman. The program was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Fans of Nachiketa are thrilled and encouraged by this recognition of their beloved singer.
