The state government has taken another step towards progress by planning to build heliports in the region. Heliports will be constructed in three locations: Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Raiganj. The Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) has been tasked with the construction of these heliports. The central government’s Pawan Hans Ltd. has been awarded the contract to build the three heliports. Land has already been acquired in Darjeeling and Raiganj for this purpose, with 2 acres allocated for the Darjeeling heliport. The search for suitable land in Kalimpong is still ongoing.
